Eeeek we are now less than 8 months away from the big day and I am so excited!! In the last month we have bought all of the grooms parties suits, had our wine tasting at the barn and decided on our food choices, so much wedding fun! I also bought us the cutest ring holder, Ben still needs to buy his ring though, it’s on the ever growing list of ‘to do’s’, it’s quite daunting to look at! I know we have 8 months to go but there’s so much I want to do to put our own little stamp on the barn and make our day reflect us, I think I’ll have to call on friends and family’s help to get bits done!! For now though wedding plans are on hold, Christmas is coming round so quickly and I am so excited to enjoy lots of Christmas fun!
To mark our 8 month countdown we enjoyed going to 2 Christmas Markets in our local area. I was poorly in the week so we waited until the following weekend to enjoy a nice day out and it didn’t disappoint. We love Tenterden and have been a few times before but never at Christmas so I was excited to go along and see it looking all pretty!
Ben really objects to Christmas in November and has refused to buy a Christmas tree yet but working in a school, where we start thinking Christmas straight after Harvest, it’s pretty hard not to get excited. Visiting a Christmas market was apparently okay for him to do in November though, probably because there would be food involved!! Tenterden was so busy and it was lovely seeing so many people enjoying it with their loved ones. The market bits are spread out in various places off of the high street so you can shop in all the great independent shops they have as well. We didn’t actually buy much at all from the market though, it was just nice to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the food on offer!!
If you are thinking of going I would definitely recommend parking in the Leisure Center car park, it’s reasonably price and right at the start of the high street and market. Don’t park on the roads though as there were parking attendants out and about and we saw 10 cars all on one road with tickets on them, not what you want after a lovely day…
We headed home to get ready to go to an ice rink and another Christmas Market with Bens family. It was the first year of this ice rink and Christmas Market happening in Dover and it was so great. It is held in Dover Cruise Terminal but as it’s not cruise season it’s all decorated for Christmas and you would never know it isn’t always used for this!! There were Christmas trees everywhere and twinkly lights and lots of market stalls full of homemade, independent goodies. Unfortunately they were just closing up when we arrived so we didn’t get much chance to shop so I definitely want to go back down at another point. They had a few food stalls too and a pretty bar area and a real ice skate rink! The food choices were great too, forgive me Slimming World, I have definitely synned this weekend!!
I’m hoping to have another Christmas day out in London for our 7 month countdown, I loveeee London at Christmas time.
